18 April 2018 – The race to the finish line in the Free State ABC Motsepe Leagueis becoming more and more exciting as Mangaung Uniteand Bloemfontein Young Tigersare fighting tooth and nail for the ultimate prize.

Both sides are tied on 64 points with the advantage slightly on the side of Unite who have played one game less than Tigers who are left with just two matches against Days FCthis weekend and Dikwena United FCon the 5th of May.

The log leaders, who have three matches to go and will be wary of the danger of dropping points at this critical stage of the championship. Should they win their two upcoming matches against Dla2 FCand Kingston FC, then a draw will be sufficient for them to be crowned champions in their last match – provided Tigers win their last two fixtures.

Tigers had to overcome a highly spirited Bloemfontein Celticside in the Bloemfontein derby this weekend with an evenly contested 1-0 win at the Kaizer Sebothelo Stadium. Unite on the other hand maintained their position at the top with a 3-1 thrashing over Harmony FC at the Kovsies stadium on the same day.

The Free State province was represented by Super Eagles in the play offs last season who went on to qualify for the National First Division (NFD) alongside KwaZulu-Natal.
