17 April 2018 – Kenneth Moichela spearheaded a hard-fought 2-0 derby win for Musina All Stars over arch-rivals, Igwe FC in a SAFA Vhembe SAB League – Stream H match up which saw MAS leapfrog Igwe on the league table on Saturday.
Igwe FC knew a win will see them four points clear off MAS and came into the game oozing in confidence after their 2-0 victory over Musina United last week.
After a relatively slow first half, the second half produced a much better performance with playmaker, Moichela pulling the strings in midfield. The star midfielder broke the deadlock nine minutes into the second half after gathering pieces of a loose ball resulted from a couple of blocked attempts on goal and slotted home a low shot from the edge of the inside box.
Miscommunication between the centre back Mafua Jankie and his goalkeeper Kedibone Mamadi resulted in none of them reacting to clear out the danger inside the inner box as substitute Sithana Petrus slotted the ball into an empty net to get his side’s second.
Speaking to SAFA.net after the match, newly appointed MAS coach who took over the reins from Shadrack Thipa said his half time talk with the boys made all the difference in the second half.
“What I told the boys during half time was to break them on their full backs because they like to go forward. And I gave my two central midfielders Yaya (Kenneth Moichela) and Aubrey Mulaudzi instructions to play quick one two passes and move the ball quickly and as you saw, that allowed us to take control of the game” said Thipa.
Musina All Stars next task is Mapakoni Vikings.
