9 April 2018 – The South African Football Association’s refereeing department concluded the another refereeing course on Friday, 7 April involving 40 referees currently doing duty in the SAFA ABC Motsepe League.
The week long course conducted by highly experienced whistle blowers which include Jerome Damon, Abdul Ebrahim and Lebogang Daniels saw the referees being upskilled from their Level 4 and 5 refereeing qualifications which they currently possess as ABC Motsepe League referees.
From the highly informative theoretical sessions to the gruelling on the field practical activities, the referees were taken through their paces by the experienced course facilitators.
The course is part of a number of activities on the Association’s is calendar having recently concluded the another refereeing course in partnership with the South African Breweries where referees from all 52 SAFA regions officiating in the SAB League were invited to a level 4 refereeing course.
A level 6 refereeing qualification was handed to the participants who passed the course which qualifies them to officiate at National First Division level.
“We had a very successful course thanks to the hard work shown by the participants. We are also glad to see more female referees taking up such courses which will increase the number of female officials in football. We look forward to seeing these referees going higher in their ranks and one day officiating at the highest level” said SAFA’s interim Refereeing Division HOD, Tenda Masikhwa.
