4 April 2018 – After tasting senior national team experience recently in Zambia, young Supersport United midfielder Aubrey Modiba says he wants to continue working hard in order to become a regular feature in the Bafana Bafana set up.

Modiba was part of the youthful Bafana Bafana squad that won the four nations tournament in Zambia a few weeks ago where he played a full match in the opening match against Angola and was on the bench in the final against Zambia.

The 22-year-old, has been a revelation since bursting into the scene in 2014 thanks to the Ke Yona Team search programme and later earning himself the young player of the season in the 2015/16 season.

“I want to do well playing for my country but for that to happen on a regular basis, I need to be consistent in my club duties. I want to earn more caps for my national team because that is very much important when you want to play football in Europe” says Modiba.

Bafana Bafana captain, Thulani “Tyson” Hlatshwayo heaped praise on the youthful Bafana Bafana squad which included Modiba, Siphesihle Ndlovu, Teboho Mokoena, Reeve Frosler and Brandon Peterson saying that the boys gelled well with the team and will be a great asset for the national team in the near future.

“The boys did very well in the very short space of time being with the senior national team. We had two important games to play in a very short space of time, but they showed maturity at training as well as on the field. Should they remain disciplined, they certainly can certainly add value to the national team” said the Bafana Bafana skipper.
