23 March 2018 – European based Bafana Bafana midfielder, Keegan Dolly is looking forward to facing Zambia in the finals of the four nations tournament currently taking place in Ndola. South Africa will be up against the tournament hosts, Zambia who had to dig deep against a highly spirited Zimbabwe side following a 2-2 draw to eventually win the match on penalties.

Dolly did not feature in the game against Angola which South Africa won 6-5 on penalties after a 1-1 draw and will most likely be given a run by Stuart Baxter who has roped in young exciting talent to the Bafana Bafana squad as the team builds towards the future.

Speaking to SAFA.net after the team’s training session on Thursday, 22 March, the former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder said he was looking forward to playing against Chipolopolo and that it is always exciting to play against the hosts of a tournament.

“Even though I wasn’t playing yesterday, I am fortunate enough to have played at that stadium with Sundowns through the Champions League. I know what the atmosphere is like there and know how hostile the crowd gets at times, so we need to be mentally strong. It definitely won’t be easy, so we just need to carry on from where we left off on Tuesday and play our normal game” said Dolly.

The 25-year-old midfielder also welcomed the idea of getting younger players into the senior team and heaped praise on the current crop of players that have been called up.

“We are building towards the future and it is so great to see new faces in the team who are gelling quite well and bringing a lot of energy to the squad. There is a lot of work that needs to be done and we are definitely on the right track with the introduction of youngsters into the senior team”.

The last time the two sides met was in the CHAN qualifiers which saw Chipolopolo eliminate Bafana Bafana from the qualifiers of the tournament.
