21 March 2018 – The champions of the Eastern Cape ABC Motsepe League could be decided as early as today, (21 March) as log leaders, Tornado FC are just a win away from being crowned champions of the Eastern Cape province. A win against second placed, PE Stars could seal the championship for the log leaders who have been in scintillating form this season.
The log leaders stretched their lead to 60 points after a thrilling 3-1 victory over fellow title contenders, EC Bees who bowed out of the Nedbank Cup recently at the hands of former African champions Mamelodi Sundowns.
With just a single loss throughout the season, Tornado have been in scintillating form and continue to display dominance in the Eastern Cape ABC Motsepe League, brushing aside quality sides such as EC Bees, Spears FC and PE Stars.
Not even the league’s firm favourites, EC Bees who represented the province in the ABC Motsepe National Play Offs last season could hold back the log leaders who remained consistent throughout the campaign.
Meanwhile FC Buffalo will be playing their football in the SAB League next season unless there is a dramatic turn of events in the next few weeks.
The club languishes at the bottom of the log with a disappointing 11 points. Just above them is Try Again FC will need to try again next season for a better showing as they also flirt with the danger of relegation with 18 points.
Tornado’s championship win will see them competing in the National Play Offs later this year to compete for a place in the National First Division.
