18 March 2018 – South Africa produced yet another scintillating performance on Saturday, 17 March at the 2018 Four Nations Futsal Tournament in Mauritius as they clobbered a hapless Comoros team 16-0, the team’s record score in any tournament the country has ever participated in.

South African came into this came at the back of 6-0 win over the Reunion Islands and were the much-fancied side against the Islanders.

It was the enterprising Donovan Gordon who opened the floodgates in the very first minute of the match and closed the scoring when he completed his double in the 48th minute, the goal was the 16th of the match.

The nimble-footed Tsepo Liphuko who had the crowd on the edge of their seats every time he got the ball and play the no-look passes also chipped in with a goal that took the score to 2-0 in the 6th minute of the match.

Demain Ho-Chong who bagged a brace in the first game continued with his goal-poaching instincts as he got a hatrick in four minutes to set the ground for a record win for the country at international level. His first goal which was the fourth of the match came in the 8th minute, then he got his second two minutes later and completed his treble in the 11th minute.

After finding the going a bit tough in the first game, Quincy Ngcobo who once had a stint at the Premier Soccer League club Golden Arrows was a more rejuvenated player against the Comoros. Ngcobo, who is the team’s lead singer, scored two goals in the match with his first coming in the  38th minute and then his second just a minute later to make it 11-0 and 12-0 respectively.

Curtis dos Santos who had a blinder in the first game continued where he had left off, scoring another two goals to take his tally to four in this tournament. Dos Santos scored the match’s second goal with just two minutes gone on the board and then completed his brace in the 47th minute, which was the match’s 15th goal.

With the coach seemingly thinking about the final match of the tournament against the hosts Mauritius he used captain Wiseman Cele sparingly and the skipper still managed to register his name on the score sheet twice. The first goal was on the 23rd minute and then he scored his second of the match in the 43rd minute to make it 13-0.

Renaldo Donnelly, a tall figure who reminds many of the former Ajax Cape Town striker Nathan Paulse by his looks also continued with Midas touch as produced some top class assists as well as a goal for himself in the 44th minute, which was the 14th of the match.

The new kid on the block, Sabelo Mazibuko had an impressive match and capped yet another fine performance with a fancy goal that left everyone in stands in stiches as the keeper was left clutching to thin air.

The underrated, yet hardworking Nhlakanipho Magcaba and Angelo Johaness were not to be left out as they also added a goal each in the 35th and 37th minute of the match respectively.

South Africa will now face hosts Mauritius on Sunday in their final match of the tournament knowing a win will secure a trophy but most importantly the players would like to finish the tournament without conceding having already kept two clean sheets in two matches and scoring 22 goals.
