28 February 2018 – The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has once again entrusted SAFA to send their most trusted referees to officiate at the CAF Champions League matches in two weeks’ time.

A total of eight match officials from South Africa will be in charge of two of the most challenging encounters in the Champions League at some of the most hostile environments on the continent.

Thando Ndzandzeka, Zakhele Siwela, Athenkosi Ndongeni and Christopher Harrison will be in charge of the highly-anticipated encounter between Simba Sports Club of Tanzania and El Masry of Egypt on Wednesday, 7 March at the Dar es Salaam National Stadium.

Victor Gomes will officiate the match between AS C. Club of the DRC and Morocco’s Difaa Hassani El Jadidid on Sunday, 18 March where he will be assisted by Johannes Moshidi, John Mervyn and Victor Hlungwani.

“We wish our referees the best of luck on their assignments and trust that this continues to be a motivation to young referees,” says SAFA’s Technical Committee Chairperson, Ms Natasha Tsichlas.

Tsichlas said the huge number of South African referees doing duty on the continent showed how CAF valued ‘our officials.’

“We continue to provide the bulk of match officials on the continent and CAF have made it clear that SA referees rank among the best,” added Tsichlas.
