26 February 2018 – The South African Football Association’s (SAFA) biggest developmental league is at a critical juncture across all provinces. With play-off places soon up for grabs, close to 1000 clubs, multiple coaches and roughly 30 000 players are all working extra hard to ensure progression up the South African footballing ladder.

Nelson Mandela seems particularly tight with Morning Stars FC leading Stream A but being hunted down by the likes of Madibaz Football, Fairview Rovers and Hearts, who are all within striking distance.

Pixley-Ka-Seme (Group 1A) seems to be a two-horse race between Union Players and Charlton who have both been in red-hot form in front of goal. The teams have 47 and 45 points respectively after 17 matches.

Lejweleputswa looks set to produce yet another tight finish with the top four clubs virtually neck-and-neck after 17 matches. Royal Stars, CUT, Sporting Club and Barcelona Academy are all still firmly in the running for the provincial play-offs.

O.R Tambo region sees two teams running away with proceedings. The Coastal Stream has AmaMpondo United FC with a 100% record and storming ahead while the Mthatha Stream sees Happy movers FC doing the same with a maximum 30 points from their first ten fixtures.

Mighty Swallows FC has taken the lead in the Buffalo City region but will have strong opposition from Birmingham City FC who are a mere 4 points behind but with a game in hand and Willows FC who are just an extra point back.

One of the country’s bigger regions, Uthukela, sees the likes of Zamanani FC, Dream Team FC, Loskop Seskhona FC, Royal Tigers FC and Real Magic FC leading their respective streams. This is most definitely one of the regions to watch as play-off places are far from decided.

One of the more interesting regions has to be Waterberg (Stream B) with only 7 points separating the top four as Sekgakgapheng Young Cosmos lead the pack with 33 points from 14 completed matches.

Vhembe region has a massive ten streams, all offering something unique and exciting.

With SAB League action sizzling to a mouth-watering finale, fans will not want to miss out.
