20 February 2018 – The South African Football Association (SAFA) has been entrusted by FIFA to host a three-day Technical Directors Workshop involving 9-member Associations from CAF.

The highly-sought after Technical Director’s course was first organised in Malawi back in 2016, focusing on the key attributes required of a Technical Director of an association and will now be hosted by South Africa between 10 and 12 April.

As the host nation, SAFA will be eligible to send an additional two instructors to accompany the SAFA Technical Director, Neil Tovey where there will an exchange of valuable information and knowledge about the growth and direction the game is taking.

The workshop will also be attended by 4 FIFA experts as well as a representative from CAF.

The invited member associations are South Africa (Hosts), Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, Swaziland, Tanzania and Uganda.

“FIFA trusting us with such an important initiative is testament to the great work being done by the Association. We have been working tirelessly as the Association to develop coaching and technical instructors around the country and such a course will assist greatly in what we have set out to achieve,” said SAFA’s Technical Director, Neil Tovey.

The Technical Directors will also have the opportunity to visit the SAFA Technical Centre in Johannesburg.

The actual venue of the course will be announced in due course.
