12 February 2018 – SAFA Head of Legal, advocate Tebogo Motlanthe has lauded the flawless process of the ongoing elections of SAFA Regions elective congresses adding the entire practice should be complete in coming weeks. SAFA goes to its elective congress on 24 March 2018, and Motlanthe says the process of electing the Presidents of the Regions should be complete by 24 February.

“We are within the timeframe; in fact we are well ahead of schedule as far as the process is concerned and I am glad to say every region’s elections should be complete in coming weeks,” he said.

Motlanthe said most of the Regions had actually completed their elections with only a few still to hold their elective congresses. Over this past week, six regions elected their new office-bearers. Bright Gumede was elected new King Cetshwayo boss. Mbongeni Shibe was elected Ugu Region President. Linda Fatyela came out tops in Joe Qabi. Dumisani ‘Dumza’ Mzili was elected Amathole President. Bennett Bailey is the new SAFA Cape Town Region President. In Free State, Papi Mcamkani was elected new President of Fezile Dabi Region.

Motlanthe said all the remaining Regions will hold their elections this coming weekend with the rest the following week.
