9 February 2018 – The Kwa-Zulu Natal edition of the ABC Motsepe League is expected to deliver some exciting football this upcoming weekend with multiple teams fighting to avoid relegation while Umvoti look to extend their lead at the top.
Friday’s action has some potential classics in store as Ashley United welcome Kwa-Dukuza United to the SJ Smith Stadium in a midday kick-off. Ashley United will be looking to gain three vital points and consolidate their second position while Kwa-Dukuza will be hoping to bounce back from a loss in their previous game.
The other lunchtime fixture will see home team GWP Friends taking on KwaMashu All Stars at the Workington Grounds with All Stars desperate for points as they aim to climb the table from a precarious 15th spot.
Table-toppers Umvoti will look to secure another win when they entertain top four club Happy Wanderers at King Edward Park in a 15h00 kick-off. The league leaders have been in scintillating form with a +19 goal difference and will be looking to maintain or even extend the six point gap over Ashley United.
Third placed Natal United then travel to the Chatsworth Stadium to tackle Summerfield Dynms in what should prove to be a fascinating encounter while Ses’ Khona play host to Durban FC at SJ Smith. With a couple of games in hand and a superior goal difference, Natal will be hoping to catch Ashley and creep into second spot on the log.
The day’s final clash sees Drakensburg FC taking on 5th Milford FC at Imbali’s Stage One ground. The home team have been goal-shy this season having only found the back of the net 4 times while leaking 17 goals in the process, for a goal difference of -17.
Saturday’s only game features Edendale Juventus as they prepare to welcome Ladysmith United at Wadley Stadium at 15h00. Both teams have displayed indifferent form thus far and will be looking to gain some sort of momentum in the second half of their respective campaigns.
KZN has proved to be one of the more interesting ABC streams this season and this weekend should prove to be no different.
