23 January 2018 – South African Women’s U20 skilful winger, Lelona Daweti believes not all is lost in their FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup as Basetsana finalise their preparations for round two of the third and final round of qualifiers to this year’s world showpiece set take place in August this year.
Basetsana come into the clash at the back of a disappointing 2-0 defeat against the West Africans in Polokwane a fort night ago who are yet to miss a FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup appearance since 2005.
However not all is lost according to Daweti who says nothing is impossible in football should they remain positive.
“We have to remain positive and united as a team. We have been in a similar situation against Burundi and came out top. Even though this is a much stronger opponent, we have a talented group of players who play with heart and dedication. Nothing is impossible and we need to go in there with that mind set” said Daweti.
Should Basetsana find their scoring touch, reversing the 2-0 deficit is very much possible having easily brushed aside Namibia 9-0 on aggregate before putting five past Burundi in a dramatic 5-2 comeback.
Basetsana travel to Nigeria on Wednesday afternoon and will take on the Falconets on Saturday, 29 January.
