22 January 2018 – Baberwa FC thumped struggling Thembisa Sports Centre 3-1 in the Gauteng ABC Motsepe League match on Saturday,20 January at Esiqongweni, Tembisa.
Three Goals secured the three points for the Royals which was their fourth consecutive victory.
Baberwa have a new man on the helm in the form of former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder, Jabulani Mendu who comes on in the place of former Supersport United mentor, Johnny Ferreira.
The road to National first division seems to be on course under the leadership of Mendu having recorded four wins out of five matches.
“The players are responding well to my tactics and I think we need this kind of results to move up the log standings and reach the playoffs. The standard in the ABC Motsepe League is very high and registering consecutive wins must mean we are doing something right at training” said Mendu.
In the other results, Alexandra United suffered a 2-0 defeat to M Tigers at the Edenvale sports Ground. The defeat moves the Alexandra giants from second position to Fourth.
Meanwhile, Alexandra Black Aces also suffered a 2-0 defeat to Dondol Stars on Saturday at the Greek Sports Club in Linksfield while JDR Stars overcame Leruma United 3-2 to join Maccabi at the summit of the log.
Maccabi were not in action this weekend after their fixture against Garankuwa was postponed.
African All Stars and Swallows had to abandon their match due to poor lighting with the match tied at 1-1.
