22 January 2018 – The South African U17 Men’s national team (Amajimbos), beat Bloemfontein Celtic U19 3-1, in their second practice match out in Bloemfontein, on Saturday 20 January, as they concluded their first training camp of the year.

The practice match against a younger age group was just what head coach Molefi Ntseki wanted before breaking the camp, while the 3-1 victory was something for the players to smile about.

Amajimbos are in a selection camp which will see a final squad called up later in the year, when they begin their international tournaments.

Ntseki believes Saturday’s encounter was a much fairer encounter but that there were many lessons taken from both practice matches played in Bloemfontein.

“This was a good performance by the players and there were some brilliant moments in the match, which showed the hunger the players have. We are once again happy that all the players got a run and that playing a younger age group as compared to the side we faced two days ago, allowed them a better chance to express themselves” said Ntseki.

Amajimbos have taken a break from their camp to allow players to begin their academic year.

The team will be looking to come back into camp in March.
