19 January 2018 – The South African U17 Men’s national team (Amajimbos), lost 5-0 to the Bloemfontein Celtics’ MultiChoice Diski team on Thursday, 18 January 2018  at Dr Petrus Molemela Stadium in a practice match.

Amajimbos moved to Bloemfontein following their failed trip to Swaziland due to the bereavement in the Executive Committee of the Swati nation.

The match gave head coach Molefi Ntseki great insight into the level of understanding the players are at in their first training camp of 2018. All the players got a chance to play and an assessment will be made ahead of the second practice match on Saturday, 20 January 2018.

“This was a great practice match for us and exactly what we needed. We are happy with most of the things we saw and this will assist to fast track the development of the players” said Ntseki

“I am happy with the organizational structure the players displayed but not with the individual errors that were committed by some of the boys, which led to us conceding the goals. This is a training camp and therefore we will not be too hard on them, as we want them to express themselves, while enjoying what they do”.

Amajimbos will now play Bloemfontein Celtic U19 on Saturday at 16h00 in Manaung’s Siwelele Park.
