12 January 2017 – Top South African referee, Victor Gomes, will take charge of the clash betweeen Nigeria and Rwanda in the Total African Nations Championships, which kicks off in Morocco on Saturday, 13 January 2018.

The clash will be played on Monday, 15 January at Grande Stade de Tange in Tangier.

Gomes will be assisted by Souru Phatsoane fom Lesotho, as well as Soulaimane Amaldine from Comoros. Senegal’s Maguette Ndiaye will be the fourth official.

The South African is among the thirty-two (32) match officials who will be doing duty at the CHAN Morocco 2018, which is the 5th edition of the tournament.

The list is made up of 16 Referees and 16 Assistant Referees representing 27 Member Associations.

The CAF Referees Committee has also selected seven match officials to operate as Video Assistant Referees (VAR’s), which will be debuted on the continent at the tournament.

The fifth edition of the tournament, designed exclusively for footballers playing in their domestic leagues, will be held from 13 January to 4 February 2018 in the Moroccan cities of Casablanca, Marrakech, Tangier and Agadir.
