6 January 2018 – President of the South African Football Association (SAFA) Dr Danny Jordaan, on Saturday (6 January) attended the final of the annual KwaMahlobo Festive Games, which was contested between Izinja Ze Game and Protea AmaGents.

The Games, which ran from 21 December 2017 to 6 January 2018, took place at the grounds of KwaMahlobo School in Meadowlands, Soweto.

Dr Jordaan arrived back in the country from Accra, Ghana on Friday evening (5 January) where he had attended the 2017 Aiteo CAF Awards.

He was joined at KwaMahlobo Games final by LaLiga Africa Director Antonio Barradas, Gauteng MEC for Sports & Recreation Faith Mazibuko, SAFA Johannesburg President Phil Mogodi & several top officials from Johannesburg Mayoral office.

KwaMahlobo Games are among the biggest drawcard of the Festive Season football matches and thousands of fans crammed the KwaMahlobo School grounds to witness the end of the three-week tournament.

Winners of the KwaMahlobo Games walked away with a glittering trophy, gold medals and a cheque for R120 000.

The losing finalists received silver medals and a cheque for R50 000 while the semi-finalists each earned R15 000.

The SAFA President will on Monday (10 January) fly to Morocco for the opening of the CHAN tournament.

Dr Jordaan will be based in Marrakech, where he is head of the organising committee.
