29 December 2017 – The annual KwaMahlobo Games in Meadowlands, Soweto have reached the halfway stage with the knock-out stage scheduled for 3 January next week.

The Games, which are one of the biggest highlights of the Festive Season Games across the country, have unearthed some of the best talent in the country including the likes of Arthur Zwane and Reneilwe ‘Yeye’ Letsholonyane who are both from the sprawling Meadowlands Township in Soweto.

The Games are sponsored by LaLiga, a partner of the South African Football Association (SAFA).

This year crowds visiting the games on daily basis have been massive and more than 20 000 spectators are expected during the final on 6 January 2018.

Among the guests expected to attend the final are SAFA President Dr Danny Jordaan, LaLiga President Javier Tebas and Mayor of Johannesburg Herman Mashaba among several dignitaries.

The City of Johannesburg is one of the sponsors of the tournament.
