6 December 2017 – South Africa and Zambia remain the only two countries within COSAFA who have received two club representatives in both the CAF Champions League and Confederations Cup in next year’s club continental tournaments.

South Africa will be represented in the 2018 CAF competitions by Bidvest Wits and Mamelodi Sundowns (Champions League) while Cape Town City and Supersport United will represent the country in the Confederations Cup.

Apart from South Africa and Zambia, other countries which will have two representatives each are Sudan, DR Congo, Morocco, Egypt, Cote d’Ivoire, Congo Brazzaville, Tunisia and Algeria.

“Our clubs have been doing well in continental tournaments and this is evidenced by the number of clubs representing us on the continent. I want to take this opportunity to wish Wits, Sundowns, Cape Town City and Supersport all the best in next year’s club competitions,” said SAFA President, Dr Danny Jordaan.
