27 November 2017 – World football governing body, FIFA has selected a record number of South African match officials to be on the 2018 Refereeing International list.

South Africa is considered within the Confederation of African Football (CAF) as having the best referees structures and this is evidenced by the high number of officials from the country that are assigned on regular basis to officiate on international duties.

Now FIFA has also confirmed the country’s number one status on the African continent by listing several South Africans to be on FIFA international panel.

The names of the approved officials include Referees, Assistant Referees, Futsal Referees and Beach Soccer Referees.

“We are very proud of the achievements of our referees. The Association continues to work tirelessly to ensure that we produce referees of the highest quality for the development of our football” SAFA Technical Committee Chairperson, Ms Natasha Tsichlas.
