25 November 2017 – The Burger King sponsored South African Men’s U20 National Team, beat the Lesotho U- 20 team 1-0 in a practice match on Friday afternoon, 24 November 2017 in Maputsoe, Lesotho, which is two hours outside Maseru where the team is currently being housed.

The lone goal from striker Luvuyo Mkatshana gave Amajita a good morale boost, as they continue building up to the COSAFA U-20 Youth Championships, which will be held in Kitwe, Zambia in December 2017.

Mkatshana who earlier in the week reported on how great it felt to be called back to the national team;  played a great match and inspired new comers to the national set up to desire to be greater.

“I am glad I got the goal for the team, but as always it is a team effort. The win is nice but we are realistic about why we came down to Lesotho. It was important that we got a positive result to ease the pressure as this was the first international simulation for most of our players.

The coaches have emphasized this many a times, and I have experienced over the years that we need to grow mentality and overcome any and every side distraction that comes with playing football on the African continent.

Although today was an unofficial match, we did face the challenge of traveling almost two hours and then immediately had to switch into match mode.

I am glad that some of the new players are experiencing this prior to the tournament we are preparing for, because those are some of the off the field factors that affect us as players;”said Mkatshana.

Amajita will play the Junior Likuena again on Sunday morning, 26 November 2017 in the official international friendly; where many of the new comers will earn their first caps.

This match will be played at 11am at the very same Maputsoe, which is two hours out of Maseru, Lesotho before they head back to South Africa and conclude tournament preparations.
