23 November 2017 – Learners at the Exercise Teachers Academy in Randburg, north of Johannesburg took part in the five day SAFA D License coaching course where a total of 28 students currently studying towards a National Diploma in Coaching got first-hand experience of what it takes to be a football coach.

The five-day course concluded on 18th of November at the Randburg Sports Complex where the learners conducted a football festival with children from the community of Diepsloot.

Amongst other things, the aspiring coaches learnt how to plan training sessions, understand the laws of the game, periodization and a number of essential skills required in modern coaching.

“It is so encouraging to see such young people taking up coaching courses. It simply bears testament that there is a serious need for qualified coaches across the country and we need to ensure that we train and accredit as many coaches as possible” said SAFA Coaching Education HOD, Frans Mogashoa.

“Both young and old play a significant part in developing the game and we wish the learners the best of luck in their studies and careers as coaches”.
