10 November 2017 – JDR Stars may have blown a chance to cut Maccabi’s lead at the top of the ABC Motsepe League to just two points when they drew 0-0 with Vaal Professionals but their coach Nnditsheni Nemasisi is not worried.
That result has now seen JDR maintain their second position on the log with 19 points from 10 matches.
Nemasisi’s team has won five matches this season, drawing four and losing once. The coach said he is happy with where his team is and is happy that they are peaking at the right time.
“I do not want to be on top early in the season because you become a target. I would rather go top with a few matches remaining and stay there until the end. As things stand, I am happy with where the team is because normally we are fifth at this stage of the season,” Nemasisi said.
JDR Stars’ slow start to the season now has Dondol Stars, who are on 17 points, breathing down their necks.
African All Stars and Alexandra United are fourth and fifth respective on 16 points each.
“We are slow starters. But with the experience that we have in the league, we always manage to climb up. Those teams behind us are big teams in the league and their pressure will help us perform better.
Our target now is to return to winning ways because Maccabi are not dropping points. We cannot afford to lose ground on the title race,” Nemasisi said.
