10 November 2017 – Alexandra Black Aces’ struggles in the ABC Motsepe League has seen them part ways with Ashwin Sutton and bring back trusted coach Jacob Sakala to steer the ship.

The club started the season well but dipped after a few matches, currently sitting third from the bottom of the log with eight points from 10 matches.

“Newly appointed coach Jacob Sakala will want to bring about an immediate improvement in the Gold City Giants,” said Aces.

The only difference between Aces and the two bottom sides is that they have a few points more. In terms of wins, Aces have managed just two this season, drawing two and losing a total six matches.

They also have the second worst defensive record in the league, where they have let in 17 goals, with Thembisa Sports Centre the only team to have conceded more, standing at 20 at the moment.

In Sakala, Aces know that they have an experienced coach who in the last season coached Premierships side side Baroka FC in what was a short stay in Limpopo Province.

The 63-year-old Zambian coach has deep links with Aces, having been their coach in the PSL, worked as a technical director and was always available to take over on an interim basis whenever Aces were in trouble.

Aces’ fighting spirit showed massive improvement in their last match, where they lost 4-3 to Valencia.

The club’s next match is on Saturday against Thembisa Sports Centre.
