9 November 2017 – Football fans in and around Durban can come and join Bafana Bafana legends Lucas Radebe, Doctor Khumalo as well as MacBeth Sibaya and Teko Modise as part of campaign to ‘COME SHOW YOUR LOVE’ for Bafana Bafana in the inaugural WE ARE FOOTBALL festival.

A big screen will be erected at People’s Park, just next to Moses Mabhida Stadium, for patrons to watch the crucial and decisive 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifier against Senegal on Friday, 10 November 2017, which will be played at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.

The screening will start at 19h00.

“Since the “COME SHOW YOUR LOVE” campaign started, we are seeing more and more South Africans get behind the national team. This support means the world to Bafana Bafana and they will do everything they can to make the country proud over the remaining two qualifying matches,” said Dennis Mumble, SAFA CEO

The football legends will also be taking part in the festival’s 6-a-side competition the next day (Saturday, 11 November).

The legends are also part of the 25 years celebration of the first game for Bafana Bafana, which took place in Durban on 7th July 1992. They will share their expert advice to participating teams and will also be judges for the different activations during the day.

The “WE ARE FOOTBALL” festival will provide football fans a chance to immerse themselves in football activities in a social setting.

The festival also gives an opportunity for football fans to meet their heroes and heroines and talk and live football for the day. There will also be great prizes to be won from different competitions.

Activities include SIX-A-SIDE games, eFootball, Freestyle Football as well as food stalls, DJs and live music performances.

There will be an eGaming competition on the FIFA 17 platform on Playstation on Saturday, 11 November.

“Football is a beautiful game enjoyed by many in our country and we are excited to create the “We Are Football” festival. For us, it’s all about creating a world where former and current football players, fans and those passionate about the game of millions, can get together in a central venue to celebrate the game of football,” says Errol Madlala, Director of Pitch Sports Entertainment and Media (PTY) Ltd.

Lee-Roy Newton, group MD of Newton Sports Agency, knows that football is part of the fabric of South African culture and says of the festival “South Africa has such passionate football fans and has produced many legends of the game. We are proud to be a part of an event that showcases the best of who we are as a nation and give people an opportunity to live out their love of the game”.

DJ Tira of Afrotainment and T-Bo Touch are amongst entertainers who will not only be the DJs but are also bringing teams to compete in the 6-a-side tournament, and are encouraging other entertainers, social and corporate teams and stockvels to do the same.

All festival ticket holders will get to watch the FIFA World Cup Qualifier for free.
