4 November 2017 – Coach of the South African U20 National Team, Maud Khumalo announced her starting eleven that will take on Burundi in a second round FIFA U20 World Cup qualifier this afternoon at 15h00.

With a number of key players missing due to final year exams, Khumalo was forced to make four changes to what has been her strongest line up that thrashed Namibia 9-0 on aggregate in the first round.

The first change comes in goals where Jessica Williams comes in for Mapaseka Mpuru. Tyla Bree Joss makes a return to her left back position while Noxolo Cesane will operate from right back.

Morongwa Manamela partners with Kaylyn Jordaan at centre back which fortunately for Khumalo is a combination from the HPC where the girls play their football.

Nosipho Mahlawe retains her position in the middle of the park and will partner with debutant, Madembe Tshikumbu. The pair will do the dirty work for new comer, Sibulele Holweni who has been trusted as the team’s playmaker.

Khumalo will look to Gabriela Salgado to whip in her trademark crosses from the left. Salgado will also wear the captain’s armband in the absence of Linda Motlhalo. Mamelodi Sundowns dribbling wizard, Lehlogonolo Mashego will use her pace and skill on the right wing.

Kirsten Nolan completes the line up as the lone striker up front and will be hoping to get her first goal in national team colours as she come in for Zimasa Dekeda.
