30 October 2017 – Premier Soccer League (PSL) log leaders Baroka FC’s rise to the top has been more of a fairy tale.

The Limpopo side has been riding the crest of the wave in the top division and according to the club’s CEO Morgan Mammila, more is still to come from the swashbuckling Kgoloko Thobejane’s side.

Baroka’s sensational start to the season in the league has not been a fluke as was evidenced in their 1-0 win over Cape Town City at the weekend in the Telkom Knockout tournament to book a date with Bidvest Wits in the quarter-finals.

Formed in 2007, Baroka was promoted into the ABC Motsepe League from the SAB League the following year, before gaining promotion into the National First Division (NDF) in the 2012/13 season.

To complete the amazing journey, Baroka was promoted into the elite league in the 2014/2015 season, and despite having struggled in their debut season, they have been rock solid since the start of the current season.

“We have invested a lot into the team and ever since we gained promotion into the ABC Motsepe League, it has somehow been a roller-coaster journey for this team.

“We owe most of our success to the dedicated technical team, but mostly to the fans who have been among the most ardent and loyal supporters ever. This team will definitely go places, watch this space,” said Mammila.
