22 October 2017Banyana Banyana interim head coach Desiree Ellis has announced the starting line-up to face Burkina Faso in an international friendly match to be played this afternoon (Sunday, 22 October) at the Dobsonville Stadium.

Kickoff is at 15h00.

Ellis has made three changes to the team that started against Zimbabwe in the final of the 2017 COSAFA Women’s Champions held in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe last month (Sunday, 24 September).

Goalkeeper Andile Dlamini retains her place, while the rearguard sees only one change.

Captain Janine van Wyk takes the place of Noko Matlou, and will play alongside Bambanani Mbane. This will be the first match for Van Wyk since she last featured for the Sasol-sponsored Banyana Banyana in January this year against France. She missed the COSAFA Cup in Zimbabwe due to club commitments

Lebohang Ramalepe is at right back with Nothando Vilakazi operating at left back.

Kholosa Biyana and Rachel Sebati are in the heart of midfield, and will be assisted by Chuene Morifi and Leandra Smeda. Sebati and Morifi replace Refiloe Jane and Rhoda Mulaudzi respectively.

Ellis has retained the formidable strike force partnership of Chantelle Esau and Thembi Kgatlana that performed very well in Zimbabwe.

This will be South Africa’s first match after lifting the COSAFA Cup crown, and their first ever meeting with Burkina Faso.
