19 October 2017 – Banyana Banyana midfielder and vice-captain, Refiloe Jane’s year has gotten even better after the player was named the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) 2017 Sportswoman of the Year.
The announcement was made on Tuesday, 17 October, where Jane was presented with a trophy.
More than anything, this highlights the amazing work the enterprising midfielder has done this year, which led to her captaining the Sasol-sponsored Banyana Banyana to Cosafa Cup glory in Zimbabwe last month.
Just last month, Jane was one of the players who were key as TUT Ladies claimed this year’s edition of Varsity Cup, making it two massive trophies in one month.
The latest accolade adds to the player’s glittering CV that has appearances at the 2012 London Olympics and the 2014 African Women’s Championships that were held in Namibia.
As if that is not enough, the 25 year old is currently in camp with Banyana preparing for what is expected to be a fruitful friendly match against Burkina Faso set to take place at the Dobsonville Stadium on Sunday, 22 October.
She is among the players expected to play an important role in the Desiree Ellis coached outfit.
