09 October 2017 – The South African Football Association (SAFA) is mourning the passing away of promising Amajita and Maritzburg United player Mlondi Dlamini. The player died in a car accident over the weekend in Pietermaritzburg.

“We have lost a star in the making; this is a great loss to entire football fraternity.  We would like to extend our condolences to the Dlamini family, Maritzburg United, his teammates and friends,” said SAFA President, Dr Danny Jordaan.

“We urge the public to drive carefully on our roads especially as we head towards the festive season. We are losing a lot of our future leaders and this is sad for the country,” he added.

Dlamini featured in a selection camp for the National U-20 in 2016 as the team began preparing for their 2017 CAF African Cup of Nations, which saw them qualify for the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup, in July 2017.

“We are deeply hurt by this tragic loss and we as the Amajita family would like to extend our condolences to the Dlamini family, Martizburg United and everyone who was touched by this young gem,” said Amajita Head Coach Thabo Senong.

May his soul rest in peace.
