28 September 2017 – The Sasol Women’s League Gauteng title battle is heading to the wire with neither Palace Super Falcon or Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies willing to give up the fight.
Log leaders, Palace Super Falcon are at the summit of the table and will meet defending champions JVW at the Methlareng Stadium in Tembisa on Saturday as they continue to fight for a way back to the National Championship in December.
Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies, who have two games in hand will visit unpredictable Springs Home Sweepers in KwaThema on the East Rand on Saturday afternoon looking to collect maximum points and put the pressure back on the log leaders.
Free scoring third placed side, TUT-PTA will host struggling Servol FC who are bottom of the log, having won only two matches all season long, at the TUT PTA West Campus on Sunday morning.
Soweto Fabulous will host fellow bottom dwellers Nicko Taurus at the Nike Centre on Sunday, while VUT will be hoping for divine intervention in their bid to escape relegation when they visit midtable side Blue Birds at Alexandra Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Other clashes in the league see Pull Together host Croesus Ladies on Sunday, while University of Johannesburg host H. Zebra Force on Saturday. NWU Vaal Campus will kick off the weekend’s action when they welcome University of Pretoria to the NWU Vaal Grounds on Friday evening.
Notably, Sasol recently renewed their sponsorship of the country’s premier women’s football league, an initiative that has played an integral part in contributing to the growth and development of women’s football in South Africa for another four (4) years until 2021.
The Sasol League takes place across all the nine provinces of South Africa. Matches are played on Saturdays and Sundays in the afternoon and will culminate with the National Championships that take place over a period of one week towards the end of the year.
