20 September 2017 – The Sasol Women’s League continued to provide excitement this past weekend, particularly in the North West where the fight for glory is going down to the wire.

De’Scorpion went into the weekend’s action with a slender one-point lead over the defending champions, Golden Ladies who boast a much healthier goal difference. Any slip up would potentially see them surrender their place at the top of the standings.

Mid table side Bianca Academy proved to be stubborn opponents at the Tswelalang Stadium, however De’Scorpion did just enough to claim all three points with a narrow 3-2 victory and maintain their lead at the top of the log.

Golden Ladies met struggling Gopane Ladies and promptly dismantled them with a commanding 12-0 win to keep the pressure firmly back on De’Scorpion ahead of the next round of fixtures this coming weekend.

Titans kept their very slim chances of championship glory alive with a hard-fought victory over a determined Als Puk Tawana side at the NWU-Potchestroom Campus on Saturday afternoon and they lie three points behind the log leaders, albeit with two games extra played.

Bottom side Icons Ladies once again went home empty handed following a 3-1 drubbing at the hands of Boitumelo United while The Bold & The Beautiful did their chances of survival the world of good with a 2-0 win over North West University who hang onto 10th place on the table.
