20 September 2017 – Alexandra Black Aces coach, Ashwin Sutton is refusing to view his team’s 2-0 loss to Orange Vaal Professionals in their opening match of the ABC Motsepe League as a disaster. Sutton believes his team were just unlucky not to covert the chances they created.
The approach is one that will give his players confidence, as he is not quick to give them a tongue lash but acknowledge that they were unlucky not to win the match. Overall though, the Black Aces coach is happy that the match was a good advert of the ABC Motsepe League and said more is still to come from his youthful team.
“I think we played well. We created a number of chances and we were unlucky to concede. I am not disappointed. But we will bounce back. There was nothing wrong with our performances,” Sutton said.
While other teams will be looking for instant results early on in the season, Sutton is only looking for his side to be patient, as he believes that can be the building block to what will be a solid season.
“We take character from this match. Our boys should be more patient and follow our processes. We are not going to rush things because we want to go far. If we stick to what we do and do it well, we will find ourselves in a good position on the log,” said the Black Aces coach.
Having started the season away from home and currently sitting at the bottom of the log table, Aces will next face Leruma United at the Sinaba Stadium on Wednesday 27 September at 15h00.
