19 September 2017 – The road to the Kay Motsepe National Championships has reached fever pitch with Luckhoff High School and Beaufort West Secondary School booking their places in the National Championships set to take place between 3 – 7 October 2017.

Beaufort West had a bit of a jittery start to the play offs after being held to a 2-2 draw by Langalethu High School in their opening match. They however redeemed themselves with a 5-0 in the second leg to Langalethu to secure a place in the finals.

Luckhoff had a tough opening encounter against Mondale High School but were eventual 1-0 winners. A much better performance in their second match of the day saw them ease past Murraysburg High School 3-1 to set up a final showdown with finalists, Beaufort West.

With both teams aiming to be crowned champions of the Western Cape, it was a tough battle in the final between both schools but a lapse of concentration from Beufort West saw them concede three goals for Luckhoff to be crowned champions of the province.

Both teams have qualified for the national championships and will be aiming to clinch the most sought-after schools football trophy next month.
