8 September 2017 – The South African U20 Women’s National Team safely arrived in Swaziland on Thursday evening for their friendly match against the Swaziland senior national team set to take place later today at 15h00 at the Mavuso Sports Ground in Swaziland.

Basetsana are hard at work in preparation for their 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Namibia scheduled to take place on Saturday, 17 September at the Dobsonville Stadium in Soweto. This will be the first leg played against the neighbouring country with the return leg pencilled for 30 September in Windhoek.

Headed by former Banyana Banyana players, Maud Khumalo alongside her assistant, Simphiwe “Shorty” Dludlu, the squad comprises of raw and exciting talent scouted from different corners of South Africa by the SAFA Women Technical Team earlier this year.

“Today’s match will be used to assess how the players implement what we have been working on for the last few days. This is also an opportunity for us to test the players’ mental strength as that will be key in playing against other countries.” said Khumalo

“We have assembled a talented group of players with exceptional ability but there is still quite a lot to be done and today’s friendly will also assist us in identifying any other short comings”

Basetsana are yet to feature in the World Cup campaign and will be hoping to secure a place in the 2018 edition set to take place in France between 7 and 26 September.
