4 September 2017 – Sekusile High School are champions of the KZN Kay Motsepe Cup and will represent the province alongside runners up, Guzana High School after edging them in a scintillating encounter played at the Abbor Park Sports Complex in Newcastle over the weekend.

Sekusile powered their way into the semi finals after winning all three of their group matches to set up a semi final with Mzuvele High School whom they edged by 1-0 to book their place in the finals and subsequently seal a spot in the National Championships.

Guzana were just as ruthless in their journey to the final, finishing top of the group with maximum points after winning all three of their matches.

Their semi final encounter against group runners up, George Nau was quite a tough battle as they had to come back from behind to clinch a hard fought 2-1 win to secure a place in the final against Sekusile.

Following a tightly contested encounter, it was Sekusile who eventually came out tops from a solitary goal by Thabang Tsotetsi.

Both schools however will represent the province in the National Championships.
