23 August 2017 – Coal City Wizards and Flamingo FC from the Mpumalanga Sasol Women’s League are just one match away from securing a spot in this year’s Sasol League National Championships.
The two sides will battle it out in a date yet to be confirmed for a place in the National Championships after winning their respective league streams.
Wizards finished top of stream A with 29 points after winning nine, drawing two and suffering one defeat in their 12 matches played in the season. They were also lethal in front of goal, hitting the back of the net 46 times while only conceding nine goals throughout the season.
Flamingo on the other hand had a very tough season and had to dig deep to fight off the likes of Nkomazi FC and Francis Ladies. They finished on 25 points with only three points separating them from Nkomazi and Francis Ladies.
Flamingo will have to be more clinical in front of goal against a very solid Wizard defence. They managed to rattle the back of the net 26 times while conceding the same amount of goals as Wizards.
