21 August 2017 – New SAFA NEC member Mxolisi Sibam says he is excited at his latest elevation and will increase his efforts in growing the game especially among the youth.

The Buffalo City President who was elected NEC member on Saturday, 19 August at SAFA House, takes the position left vacant by Xolile Nkompela who was elected SAFA vice president at the same meeting.

“This is a huge honour and privilege for me. This will actually spur me to work extra hard. I feel humbled and I promise my constituency, SAFA hierarchy and the South African football loving people that I will not let them down,” he said.

Sibam was elected Buffalo City President in 2012 and he said the latest elevation has been like a bolt from the blue.

“When the news was relayed to me, I had a few butterflies but it only goes to show the confidence people have in my capabilities. I will redouble my efforts and make sure I carry on developing the game, especially within the youth; who are tomorrow’s leaders. I am one individual who loves challenges and will be up to this one,” he added.
