18 August 2017 – We continue celebrating and recognizing the women who play a role in the daily operations of the South African Football Association (SAFA).

MRS IRENE MAPHANGA – LEGAL ADMINISTRATOR AND MEMBERSHIP AFFAIRS OFFICER

I joined SAFA in 1997, under AmaGluglu (The South African Olympic Team).

I fell in love with football at the age of 10. My family are die-hard Orlando Pirates supporters.

I am responsible for SAFA’s Legal Administration and Membership.

One of my fondest memories in football has being part of the 2010 FIFA World Cup where I worked as a Protocol Officer and ticket distributor.

I believe being a woman gives me an advantage in my job because I have dedication and commitment to my work. I always go an extra mile to assist members and Regions.

What I enjoy/love the most about working in football is that is it not entirely a man’s world anymore.

Ms AZIWE MBOBO –CORPORATE SERVICES

I joined SAFA in 2015

I fell in love with football at the age of 15

I am responsible for administration in Corporate Services department. I assist with CAF Interclub matches; liaise with service providers for our facilities department and the SAFA Technical Centre.  I also run the day to day logistics of SAFA’s fleet.

One of my fondest memories in football has been being part of the 2013 CAF African Cup of Nations, Local Organising Committee and the 2014 CAF Championships of African Nations; working in the CEO’s office.

I believe being a woman gives me an advantage in my job because women are able to bring change to football by implementing new ideas, and of course multitasking.

What I enjoy/love the most about working in football is networking and exploring new and various opportunities.
