18 August 2017 – We continue celebrating and recognizing the women who play a role in the daily operations of the South African Football Association (SAFA).

Ms VERONICA LEBONA – TRAVEL MANAGER

I joined SAFA in 2011

I fell in love with football at the age of eight. I loved break time at primary school because it meant we got to go and play on the football pitch.

I am responsible for SAFA’s Travel and accommodation requirements for all national teams, executive members, SAFA events, nationally and internationally.

One of my fondest memories in football is being involved in the 2010 FIFA World Cup Local Organising Committee and travelling in my first ever chartered flight with big names such as the former FIFA President.

I believe being a woman gives me an advantage in my job because of my ability to multitask, persevere and improvise. This gives me an edge because at times; there are too many demands to deal with in a short space of time.

What I enjoy/love the most about working in football is the unity football can bring. I love how everything to do with the game, is about preparation, teamwork and dedication.

Ms JOY MOLOI –COACHING ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT

I joined SAFA in 2015 under the Cathsetta Internship program and became full time in June 2017.

I fell in love with football at the age of 13. My father and grandfather were die hard Orlando Pirates fans and it rubbed off on me.

I am responsible for the administration in the Coaching Education Department of SAFA.

One of my fondest memories in football was when Orlando Pirates won the double- treble from 2011. They won two cup titles and the league; over two seasons. Those were the good days for us Pirates supporters *LAUGHS*.

I believe being a woman gives me an advantage in my job because times have changed and the gender equity laws are implementing this change. Women are an important element to every organization especially the male dominated ones because they bring much need flair to the game.

What I enjoy/love the most about working in football is that I get to meet different people every day; I get to learn new exciting things from people that I meet on a daily basis. Working with Ms. Christina Phafane the Coaching Development Officer has been amazing I have learnt so much from her; she has great work ethic and she is passionate about her work. I enjoy learning from her.
