16 August 2017 – We continue celebrating and recognizing the women that play a huge role in the daily operations of the South African Football Association (SAFA).

MS CONNIE THWALA – EVENTS & PROTOCOL OFFICER

I joined SAFA in 1989

I fell in love with football at the age of 17.

I am responsible for SAFA’s Events and Protocol with emphasis on Hospitality. My core responsibilities include logistics, registering guests, taking care of the menu, decor and protocol.

One of my fondest memories in football has been South Africa winning the 1996 CAF Africa Cup of Nations and us hosting the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

What I enjoy/love the most about working in football is the diversity and meeting people from all walks of life.

MS NANNIE COETZEE –SAFA HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGER

I joined SAFA in 2009

I fell in love with football at the age of 40.

I am responsible for all Human Resources.

One of my fondest memories in football was being part of the 2010 FIFA World Cup and attending my first ever Bafana Bafana match at Orlando Stadium. I still remember that day as though it we yesterday, they played against Poland; building up to the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

I believe being a woman gives me an advantage in my job because women have empathy, especially when it comes to sensitive matters which do arise in Human Resources.

What I enjoy/love the most about working in football is the fact that there are new challenges every day, which force you to think outside the box.
