7 August 2017 – Former Banyana Banyana midfielder and interim head coach, Desiree Ellis says no obstacle will stand in her way to improve football in the country.

The former Spurs Ladies midfielder was speaking at the SAFA Technical Centre in Johannesburg after the conclusion of the inaugural SAFA Provincial Technical Officers training over the weekend where a total of 18 Provincial Technical Officers, evenly spread between male and female were invited for a workshop with the main goal of taking football development forward.

“This was a huge opportunity for all of us and was quite insightful. Everyone who attended the workshop has unique challenges that they face back home and through this workshop, we were able discuss and find solutions which we are going to implement” said Ellis.

“This is not an easy job but we are all determined to overcome any obstacle that we may face with the goal of taking South African football to greater heights”.

Originally scheduled as a 10-day programme, the workshop was unfortunately reduced to five days due to the unavailability of a CAF instructor who was scheduled to assess the PTOs for credentials of becoming a CAF Coaching Instructor.

This element of the workshop has however been postponed to a later date.
