12 July 2017 – The ongoing SAFA Coaching roll out programme made it’s way to the Western Cape in the town of Blikkiesdorp where a total of 37 aspiring coaches were accredited with the SAFA/CAF D licence coaching badge.

The five-day coaching course took place from 26 to 30 June and was conducted by SAFA’s highly qualified coaching instructors.

The countrywide coaching course roll out forms part of SAFA’s Vision 2022 objective of ensuring that coaches at grassroots and development level are fully equipped and educated for talent identification and nurturing purposes.

The introductory coaching course which involved various topics ranging from match observation, match analysis and basic factors of performance concluded in a coaching festival where the coaches put their theoretical knowledge into practice.

The course also saw five women coaches taking part which is a significant step towards women’s football development.

“We are glad to see such passionate coaches at this level having the hunger and desire to learn. What is also encouraging is having women starting to take up the SAFA Coaching courses. This will in the long run benefit women’s football in the county” said SAFA’s Coaching Education Head, Mr Frans Mogashoa.
