The SAFA D License coaching course currently underway in Rustenburg, North West concluded this afternoon; ahead of the kick-off of the 2017 COSAFA Senior Cup.
40 participants from the four SAFA North West regions Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati, Bojanala, Ngaka-Modiri Molema and Dr Kenneth Kaunda have been part of this week long course; where they have been laying the foundation for their coaching careers.
The SAFA D License coaching course is the introductory phase of coaching and focuses primarily on the introduction of football to the age groups of 4- 8 years old.
SAFA Coaching Instructor Zunaid Mall, is very pleased that more women are partaking in the courses, and that they are active members in group discussions while bringing the female touch to the development structures of football.
“Over the years, women are showing a greater interest in football coaching, and this is great as they bring a new perspective to the classes. We currently have four female participants in the D License course, and I am very happy that a few female development coaches will be used as TSG during the COSAFA Cup;” said Mall.
The SAFA D Licence Coaching Course concluded this afternoon with a festival; where the 40 aspiring coaches put all their theory into practical’s, at Mogwase Stadium, where they coached a group of young footballers.
The South African Football Association in conjunction with the Council of Southern African Football Association (COSAFA), hosts the 2017 edition of the senior COSAFA Cup, which kicks off tomorrow afternoon at Moruleng Stadium.
South Africa’s Bafana Bafana are the current reigning champions, after they beat Botswana 2-1 in the final last year in Windhoek, Namibia.
