United Rovers will be playing their football in the SAFA ABC Motsepe League next season. This follows the club’s ruthless performance on Sunday, 18 June during the Northern Cape Stream B SAB League Provinciall Play Offs played at the Mziwabantu Stadium in Bricktown.

The play offs involved regional winners from three separate Northern Cape SAFA regions namely Frances Baard (Real Madrid), John Taolo Geatsewe (Maruping United FC) and Pixley Ka Seme (United Rovers).

Madrid kicked off the day’s proceedings with a 7-1 thrashing of Maruping United FC in the opening fixtures of the day to lead the group with a healthy goal difference.

However, Rovers had other ideas on the day as they also put Maruping to the sword with a humiliating 8-0 victory which sent the John Taolo Geatsewe regional winners packing and shot Rovers to the top of the log table.

The battle for promotions was then to be decided between Real Madrid and United Rovers in the last match of the day.

It was Rovers who continued the onslaught as they proved to be no match for Madrid, beating them by a convincing 5-0 score line to secure their place in the third tier of South African football.

Rovers are the first team from the Pixley Ka Seme region to make it into the ABC Motsepe League after 13 years.
