JTG Region Vice-President and NEC member Peter Manchonyane has lauded this year’s Solar Youth Cup which was attended by SAFA President Dr Danny Jordaan and a host of top football officials and ex-Bafana Bafana players as one of a kind.

The tournament was won by Kuruman United Rovers who beat Shooting Stars 3-1 on Sunday at Wrenchville Stadium in Kuruman to lift the glittering trophy and cash incentives.

“I have no words to describe the feeling among people of this region with regards to what happened over the weekend. The football was of high standard as evidenced by assertions by the former Bafana Bafana stars Arthur Zwane, Fabian McCarthy and Stanton Fredericks who were part of the talent identification panel.

Under 17 coach Molefi Ntseki had also great words to say about the tournament and with former Bafana Bafana stars, all agreed it was a question of time before this Province start churning out top talent to the national teams,” said Manchonyane.

The JTG Region boss said he was grateful to all the sponsors of the tournament; Kelebogile Trust, Sishin and Khathu Solar companies as well as the LaLiga for putting resources in football development.

“This Edition was the most successful of them all, thanks to all our sponsors, SAFA President, NEC members David Bantu, Gladwyn White, Ria Ledwaba and Siyanda President Emma Hendriks as well as JTG President Lebogang Riet for their unwavering support,” added Manchonyane.

Manchonyane said he was looking forward to next year’s edition which he said would definitely be bigger and better.
