Senior Men’s National Team coach Stuart Baxter maintained that he is creating a pool of players for Bafana Bafana that is of paramount importance when South Africa take on Zambia in a friendly international match on Tuesday, four days after the draining clash with Nigeria

Bafana Bafana take on COSAFA rivals, Chipolopolo at Moruleng Stadium on Tuesday and Baxter insisted he will field most of those players that were hardly used in the Nigeria clash.

“The international friendly match gives me an opportunity to blend in some of the promising youngsters since Vision 2022 entails maintaining sustainable success. I will take this opportunity to ‘throw in’ some of those players that didn’t take part in Saturday’s game” said Baxter.

Talking of COSAFA Region’s biggest derby, Baxter said matches between Bafana Bafana and Zambia were tightly contested and always produced fireworks.

Both teams will be coming off a hectic weekend in which both were involved in demanding AFCON qualifiers but one thing for sure is fans always get their money’s worth when these two Southern African giants clash.

“I am looking forward to identifying a pool of players for the Senior National Team assignments and this game will give me that opportunity to start identifying that pool of players going forward. I know a win is crucial but the bottom line is creating a pool of players.”

Baxter said a national team coach will always get stick if results are not forthcoming, adding the balancing act was marginal if one wants to achieve all means.

The Bafana Bafana vs Zambia match will kick off at 19h00.
