All eyes are focused on East London as the city prepares to host the highly anticipated 2017 ABC Motsepe National Play Offs.

Following a long and competitive season of ABC Motsepe League football, nine clubs now carry the hopes of their respective provinces in what is set to be a scintillating week of football action.

The Play-Offs are scheduled to take place from 5 – 11 June at Sisa Dukashe and Buffalo City Stadium where fans can expect a week of entertaining and quality football as teams battle it out for two National First Division (NFD) spots plus a R1 Million prize money for the winning team.

Action gets underway at the Buffalo City Stadium with a mouth-watering fixture between Free State side, Super Eagles and Acornbush of Mpumalanga – kick off is at 12h30.

A few hours later, North West’s Buya Msuthu will play host to Gauteng representatives, Maccabi FC in a clash that starts at 15h30.

Muzi Mshengu, a technical team member of Acornbush, has fired a strong warning to their opponents saying they are ready for a fight.

“We have had a good season as a club and want to cap it off with promotion to the National First Division. People have come to know who Acornbush is after our performance in the Nedbank Cup but I can assure you that we have made some improvement from what people saw,” said Mshengu.

Acornbush secured their place in the Play Offs with an impressive record after finishing the season with 76 points from 24 wins, with four draws and only two losses in 30 matches.

Their opponents were just as bullish in their campaign – Super Eagles ended the season on 69 points after registering 21 victories, six draws and three defeats on the road to the championships.
