Amajita captain, Tercious Malepe understands the pressure that comes with carrying the hopes of millions of South Africans but has assured the nation that the team will give it their best at the FIFA U20 World Cup in Korea.

The lanky defender led Amajita to an impressive fourth-place finish at the U20 AFCON in Zambia and will now be marshalling his troops at the world showpiece.

The squad arrived at its base camp in Suwon on Thursday evening after almost 24 hours of travelling.

Amajita kick off their World Cup campaign against Japan on Sunday, 21 March before taking on Italy and Uruguay in their other Group D fixtures.

“Our preparations over the last few weeks went very well. The team had a fruitful camp in Holland and has been working. We understand the huge responsibility we have as players but we are glad and fortunate to be here. The team is happy to represent the country and promise we South Africans that we will do our best at the tournament” said Malepe.
